Western Karate Union Winter Championships

On Sunday 16th November, four Wado UK members traveled the long distance to Weston-super-Mare to compete in the Western Karate Union Winter Invitational Championships. Teerth, Charan and Amrit Dhesi of the East Hull Woodford Dojo were joined by Ellis Miller of the Hull Zanshin Dojo to compete in our final event of the year.

The trip was to pay off on the medal front as all three Dhesi youngsters managed to medal on the day. Amrit the younger of the three managed to win Kata gold and added to it with a bronze in his kumite category. Siste Charan was to add medals of her own with a silver in her kumite section, with Teerth adding personal bronze medals in both his kata and kumite sections.

The team kata section was to see them all on the mat at the same time where they finished the day off with a creditable silver having been beaten in the final.

Six medals for the young trio was a great result to finish 2014 on our competition quest. Ellis Miller was to be nudged out on all of his three events but showed promise if he can come back fighting.

Well done to all four youngsters.
